Take Him to death!
Take Him to death!
They ask Roman governor Pilate to kill Him;
They wanted Pilate to take His blood for them.

“Take him yourselves and judge him according to your law.”
Pilate does not want to be involved in their religious enthusiasm, but
“What accusation do you bring against this Man?”
They call upon the outside authority to kill the Man.

I found in him no fault at all.
I did not find any criminal guilt in Him.
I could not find any political guilt in His speaking.
I want to release Him at Passover, your biggest feast.

Not this Man! Take Him to death!
Take Him to death! Instead, release Barabbas!
They choose a robber in a prison instead of Jesus;
Their choice always comes from their deep darkness.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets,
how often I have longed to gather your children together,
as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,
but you were not willing.” (1)

They still repeat,
“Not this man, but Barabbas!”
