Truly, truly, I know
one of you will betray Me.
He is going to hand me over to my enemies.
Jesus’s heart was broken, and
Judas’ breathing stopped in that moment.

Betrayal inscribes painful marks in the deep hearts,
both of the betrayed and the betrayer.
But Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.”
Judas could not look to the eyes of Him
who gives the bread and cup at the Passover table.

“What are you willing to give me to betray Him to you?” (1)
Judas received thirty pieces of silver from the chief priests.
During the night of Passover, “Hail, Rabbi!”
Judas kissed Him.
Those who were with Judas arrested Him. (2)

When morning came, and they decided to kill Him,
Judas repented, “I have betrayed innocent blood.” (3)
He returned the money to them and he went away.
He could not accept himself and finally hanged himself. (4)
Ah, pitiable Judas!

There are so many who do not know repentance,
who still walk in the way of betrayal like Judas,
who still overflow with shameless laughter in this world.
Ah, those who dwell in the deep dark night of their souls!
Ah, pitiable Judas!
